We have made progress this year! At the most recent board meeting, we spent a good deal of time reviewing the challenges and successes of the past year. I’m extremely happy with how things have played out over the course of the past 12 months, and our successes are numerous.

The board spent a significant amount of time doing a thorough recap of the past year. We’ve examined everything from the financials, to our events of the past year, to our investments in improving our facilities and building. We have made some really nice strides, and I feel like the DAC is continuing on a very stable, exciting path for the future.

Here’s a brief recap:
Our major annual events have been very successful. The Julefrokost, Akvavit Pairing Meal, Danish Day, music events, and our Æbleskive Breakfasts have all been performing very well. We have had a good group of volunteers for the events, we have run positively in regards to budget, and most importantly our guests have enjoyed all the activities.

We have made some significant improvements to the property. The new bathrooms were finished on the first floor, we have acquired a complete new set of chairs, and our irrigation system has been installed to keep our grounds looking lush. There has been a small cost here, as the water leak that occurred last spring forced us to do some significant cleanup and repairs. We’ve also had a few other significant repairs to the building, but we are doing what is necessary to keep the facility humming along.

Our facility staffing has been terrific. Kate and Tina, our office administrator and caretaker, respectively, have done a fantastic job this year. We are grateful for the stability they provide to the organization on a day-to-day basis.

Our board members have been active in all facets of operation of the DAC. We have been able to successfully orchestrate these events and coordinate the finances, and our organization remains on a solid footing as we look forward to planning for 2027.

I am grateful, as always, for all of the volunteers and staff who make the operations at the DAC run. It’s a wonderful team to be a part of, and as I look back on our success of the past year, I feel confident that the next year will be just as successful.
